Welcome to Crested Butte Secondary School

Welcome to Crested Butte Secondary School

Dear Crested Butte Secondary School Families,

Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 school year! We are thrilled to welcome our students and staff back to school. We hope that you were able to relax and make special memories with your friends and families. Now it is time to look forward to a wonderful new school year at Crested Butte Secondary School!

Our incredible staff of educators have been in school throughout the summer to prepare classrooms for the new school year. We are grateful to our amazing custodial staff as they worked all summer getting our school in pristine shape. Our office staff are working hard to ensure a smooth start for staff, students, and families.

Crested Butte Secondary School is such a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of our beautiful school and have high expectations for each and every student.  Our students are kind, compassionate, and eager to learn.  Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to make connections with students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe.

Our goal as always is to have all members of our learning community working collaboratively together and have the courage, competence, and commitment to take ownership of their development, face challenges, and find solutions. The learning community includes students, staff, parents/guardians, and community members. Together our work will focus on creating a balance between intellectual, physical, social and emotional development with the goal that every student will be college and career ready.

Our Positive Behavior focus will continue with our Seek the Peak program, which is a school-wide system that creates a predictable, positive, safe, and consistent school environment for all students, staff, and community members.
Partnering with families is crucial to promote a healthy transition to school both socially and emotionally.   We recognize that students may be feeling anxious with the start of a new school year and we will continue to place a strong emphasis on social-emotional learning while focusing on building classroom community.  We encourage families to stay connected and informed by following our district website and announcements sent through Titan Times.

Sincerely,

Ernie Kothe, Principal
